Access

An access control system allows for absolute verification of entry to an area in a building or an entire campus. Doors remain locked until the verification of the individual requesting entrance is determined. This is done with the use of a keypad, card or badge, a pendant or key fob, or even the latest technology, biometrics. The card units can be magnetic swipe, much like a credit card or proximity type allowing for a general vicinity presentation. Biometrics is using a portion of the human body as a key every one is absolutely unique. There are thumbprint or hand scanners, retinal (eyeball) scanners and even full facial and vocal recognition devices available. 

An access control system can handle thousands of people with hundreds of different access levels. You can decide to have people as part of groups with certain accesses, or set up individuals with one only access levels. Program to keep the day shift out at night and vice versa. Holiday, weekend and evening schedules are easily manageable through a PC based control system. In high tech environments where you have teams of engineers in a lab and an administrative staff in office space, you will know that people are only where they are supposed to be. 

This system cuts down on the need for security personnel to wander corridors, but rather allows them to be alerted from their office if something is not right. You get reports of activity that allow you to look at historic information on the system, and it can even tie in with a CCTV system to allow you to capture all of the information you need to be in control.
